Bible Verse Challenge card

I made this card for the monthly Bible Verse challenge on Splitcoaststampers. We have had such amazingly beautiful weather here in central Florida that I wanted something spring like. I really like the way the colors look together and the soft look of the stamped flower over the verse. It was a simple card to make and I will definitely use this color combination again.

Thanks for looking!

Bali Breeze For You

I am still amazed at how relaxing it is to scrapbook and stamp. I used to say that people that scrapbooked/stamped needed to get a life (GASP!!) but now I know different.  Scrapbooking is about life and documenting it for the next generation but it is also so relaxing. I have to admit I am totally obsessed! LOL.

I love the SU Bali Breeze paper! The colors are beautiful. I wanted to make a cheerful card for a friend so I chose the sky blue and pumpkin pie flowered sheet as a layer for my card. I stamped the flowering branch from the Embrace Life set with Timber Brown Stazon and then watercolored it with SU markers. I am really pleased with how it turned out.

Outlaw Sketch

This card is for the weekly sketch challenge at SCS (SC162). I used a piece of the retired Outlaw DSP for one layer and based my color theme around the paper. I also incorporated the monthly Bible verse challenge as my card sentiment. Since I am predominately a scrapbooker it usually takes me forever to make a card but this one came together quick and easy. I used the Rough texture jumbo wheel to give some definition to the layers and I added paper distressing around the verse. One other thing to note - I finally used some of my Hodge Podge Hardware! It is so easy to hoard that stuff and keep it in the nice little box but I have determined to not be a hoarder! LOL.

Loads of Love Birthday

The Stampin' Up Loads of Love set is so much fun to use! I totally enjoy watercoloring it using markers and the aqua pen. I needed a cute masculine card for my middle son's 19th birthday and this seemed like the perfect stamp set. Imagine my surprise when he said he really liked the cards I make for him! Just when you think they are hopeless they redeem themselves with a sweet comment like that. LOL

Background mania!

This was a fun card to make. I got the color inspiration for this card from my SBS-5 Sister Lindsay's blog. I used a variety of stamps to create the background for the layers. If you have never used stamps to make your own background papers give it a try. I think you will be surprised. Please let me know if you try this technique and what you think about it. Thanks for looking!

Recipe: All supplies are Stampin’ Up. I used very vanilla as the card base and stamped flowers in bashful blue and certainly celery. Then I stamped over it with the sanded background stamp in chocolate chip. Next I layered close to cocoa on chocolate chip. I used the flower background stamp from boho backgrounds and added the sanded background stamp for extra distressing on the close to cocoa layer. For the three smaller layers I used bashful blue and stamped both the boho background stamp and the sanded background stamp in chocolate chip. I stamped chocolate chip over the bashful blue using the flowered boho background. For the final layer I used certainly celery, very vanilla and close to cocoa. I used the distressing tool on the edges to add some texture. The sentiment is craft close to cocoa embossed with clear embossing powder. Finally I did some paper piercing above the chocolate chip layer.

Virtual Stamping Night at SCS

Woo Hoo! It's time for the quarterly Virtual stamping night at SCS (www.splitcoaststampers.com)! I am usually so slow at card making but I completed 3 tonight!!! I am so excited that even though it is late I wanted to get my favorite card up for you.

The challenge was to make a criss-cross card. I wanted something cheerful so I used some paper from the retired SU Simply Scrapping Kit Creative License.

If you have not participated in the challenges before I invite you to join us! The fun continues tomorrow at noon on SCS. I'll try to post some more cards tomorrow.

See ya!

Another Simple Christmas Card

Hi all!

The Stampin' Up retired accessory list is out the Dashing DSP will be going as of January 1st! I didn't love the Dashing paper at first but the more I play with it the more I like it. The colors are bright and cheery but not too busy. I just received the Aqua pen from SU and had to try out the watercoloring technique on this card. I felt like a kid coloring again. (That is a good thing! I loved to color as a kid, got to color again when I had kids and then no more coloring until NOW! Ha-ha! That could be our new advertisement - coloring for adults!) Seriously, I do totally enjoy the creativity of making cards and scrapbooking. It is completely relaxing.

My card for today features the Dashing DSP, Real Red Card stock, Old Olive card stock, SU Watercolor paper, and the Baby Jesus is born Stamp set. Accessories: Real Red grosgrain ribbon, Black Stazon, and aqua pen. Image26

Thanks for looking and let me know if you have any questions.

Christmas Card

I have been playing with different ideas for quick Christmas cards. This is one of my first attempts.

(Yes, I know it is already December 8th and no I have not mailed my Christmas cards. Yes, I am a procrastinator. So now you know! LOL)

All supplies Stampin' Up! Here's the recipe. Craft Card stock 6x6 folded in half length wise; Dashing DSP, Real Red ribbon and card stock, Old Olive card stock, SU watercolor paper. I stamped the image with black Stazon, watercolored the tree and highlighted a couple of the words with watercoloring. I also sponged some Old Olive around the edges of the watercolor paper.

SCS Mini VSN Challenge

SCS (www.splitcoaststampers.com) had their first ever Mini VSN (virtual stamping night) last night. It was a lot of fun. The Mini VSN is different in that the challenges aren't timed. For me that is a huge benefit. I am much more of a scrapbooker than a card maker so it takes me longer than normal to design and put a card together. I have already made cards for 2 of the 4 challenges. The first one uses the retired SU set 'Canine Capers' and the card will be donated to a group that sends cards to the 101st Airborne Troops. The 2nd card is for my Aunt's birthday and it is just a fun girly card using the SU retired set 'First in Fashion'.  Feel free to email me or leave a comment if you have questions about the cards or stamps. Thanks for looking!Image24 Image16
